Is anyone here a fan of Anarcho-Capitalism?

It’s very tough to find pure anarcho capitalism in America today due to statists existing wanting to control everything.

But a good example of Anarcho-Capitalism would be the internet. There are PRIVATELY ran organizations that self regulate and come up with rules and guidelines. The FCC doesn’t censor Yahoo Answers for example. It’s Yahoo Answers that desires censorship because of the underage users. It’s in Yahoo Answers best interest to have censorship. As a porrn website for example will not have censorship for obvious reasons.

The idea of no regulations isn’t so crazy when you look at the internet. It’s always in the companies best interest to meet their customers demand. Not guaranteed, and if not they probably will face consequences for reckless actions.

I say the consumer knows best, not government regulations.
I am not speaking of crime, like harming another person in some shape or form. Rather having products/service traded on a consent basis.

YES

I agree in theory, The problem will be politicians, banks, Large multinational and environmental corporations, always manipulating true free and open market justice. They all have interests in manipulating you and your property. Look up videos of Milton Friedman like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RWsx1X8PV_A

I’ll admit the Internet has worked remarkably well by Anarcho-Capitalism. However, not everything operates like the internet.

Take factories, for example. Capitalism doesn’t just create good incentives like meeting their customers’ demands. It creates incentive to oppress others for your own gain. For example, if a business wants to meet a large customer demand, corporations would enslave people if they could get away with it. Complete anarchy would include legality of many horrible practices that we don’t even really remember used to exist.

Also, the Internet isn’t complete anarchy. Big websites still hire people and are thus subject to employment regulations. They’re also subject to 13th Amendment and cannot enslave anyone. If you want to be an Anarcho-Capitalist you must believe in absolutely no rules, not just as few as reasonably possible. The latter is really just Libertarianism.

    yep… you’re right…

and a byproduct of that is also the nigerians stealing grandma’s life savings…

YOU CAN’T speak of anarcho-captialism and not speak of the crime…

it’s like talking about the Nazis and being like "weren’t they great!… oh, I’m not talking about the holocaust"… lol…

the CRIME is THE problem… that’s the REASON the regulations are there…

    No.

First of all, to judge an entire political ideology on the basis of a relatively small detail (deregulation) within a particular context (the Internet) ignores more fundamental problems with anarcho-capitalism.

I think you’re giving far too much credit to consumers, who lack adequate information to hold companies responsible. And so what if the companies "meet their customers demand"? Like that’s the highest good that can be attained? What if the means by which those demands are met are exploitative and/or harmful to others? And who are we kidding, many companies don’t even follow government regulations.
