Topic: Anarchism

If the remains of Jesus were ever discovered, would Christians basically give in to anarchism?

If people will riot over their favorite sports team losing a game, they’ll riot over the remains of Jesus having been discovered and it all being a sham. I envision Christians, although perhaps not the majority of them, basically going on a non-stop looting/rioting/killing spree. Or worse.

That will never happen. Jesus rose bodily and ascended to heaven in His physical body. We know this because He was seen after this walking about and talking and eating with people for 50 days before His actual ascension to heaven for good. We know it was Jesus because of the scars in His hands, feet and side. He left Thomas feel them.

Should your belief in anarchism affect your marriage?

Say when you get married you don’t fully believe in anarchy and you’re head over heels in love with the person. Then you start researching and discover that you want to be an anarchist but anarchism doesn’t really believe in the institution of marriage. What do you do?

You and I apparently have different definitions of anarchy, because the anarchism I’m familiar with is only concerned with governmental matters. The whole point of anarchism is that people should not have governments restraining their actions. Anarchism says nothing about what kind of personal relationships you have. At most, anarchism says you shouldn’t have to apply to gov’t for a marriage license.

Marriage itself is a private relationship that predates formal governments by many centuries. You can get married by a justice of the peace, by a clergy, or if you are both anarchist and non-religious, by a private marriage provider like Las Vegas is famous for (among other things).

Whenever an ideology causes you to live and act in ways that cause you to give up things (or people) you value, it is time to reasses that ideology and either give it up or at least discard those parts of it that don’t make sense or which are bad for you.

Anarchism is an ideology–an abstract concept. Your spouse is real. Don’t give up the real for the abstract.

Occupy Movement, Zizek, Anarchism, a Postmodern Perspective on Why You Should Care?

The Occupy Movement, Zizek and Anarchism, Why You Should Care? A Postmodern Perspective from the new book: THE MEANING OF YOUR LIFE Secular Help for the Puzzled, Disappointed or Depressed Copyright © by Marius Croeser Get your copy here: http://www.amazon.com/MEANING-YOUR-LIFE-Disappointed-Depressed/dp/0986953008/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1321914473&sr=8-1

Are you puzzled about the meaning of your life? Are you disappointed by traditional answers? In this book you will discover the building blocks to meaning and find hopeful answers to your questions.

Perhaps surprising to some, is that there are many people who have spent years within their organized religious tradition only to continue to find themselves struggling with Meaning. Equally, there are non-believers — even Atheists — who have given themselves over to an unnecessary, meaningless pessimism. If you have asked similar questions about personal Meaning, or if you are slightly disillusioned by traditional answers, or even if you are just curious, then this book is for you. Asking questions about meaning is normal. Not only is it normal, it is also important for your continued mental well-being.

Rather than with organized religion, Meaning (and a meaningful life) is to be had in abundance within the secular world; within our very earthly and human realm. It is my assumption that, in reading this book, you are interested in learning about secular Meaning; the word secular is defined as “not pertaining to or connected with religion”.

Our meaning does not have to superficial or cliché — and meaning is not like some chocolate egg you may find during an Easter egg hunt. I also have difficulty understanding meaning as being a mere production of the mind. Equally, as I will explain, the notion that our meaning is derived from God appears to be built on shaky ground. So, specifically in this book you will find relevant insights for your meaning; insights that come from bringing together information from recent philosophical and scientific inquiry. As you read this book, your own tangible understanding of meaning will grow — and this process may well revolutionize your life.

This book has 17 Chapters. They are filled with practical insights and answers for you to explore, and for use in your everyday life. You will discover insights into secular meaning, and related topics:
- Understanding your life’s meaning and purpose;
- Having meaning outside of organized religion;
- How to cultivate a healthy world view;
- Meaning and sexual fulfillment;
- How to triumph over life’s apparent absurdity;
- Help for your anxiety and depressive thoughts;
- Discover what Quantum Mechanics, Epigenetics and Information Theory can teach us about our meaning.

About the author: Marius Croeser has taught on three continents, appeared on TV (Canada & South Africa). He is an integrative thinker in the Existentialist tradition and holds numerous formal, interdisciplinary qualifications, including: BA., BTh., LTh(Hons)., Masters of Theological Studies as well as completed course work for a Masters of Commerce. In addition he has completed postgraduate studies at York University.

Congratulations! In finding this book you have found the building blocks to meaning along with the keys to reinventing your world view. It is time for you to find answers! Thank you for purchasing:

Anarchism, Psychology, and Law (Video 1 of 2)

“Anarchism, Psychology, and Law,” a discussion at Occupy Boston’s Free School University on October 8, 2011 with Dennis Fox, retired professor of Legal Studies and Psychology at University of Illinois at Springfield and co-founder of the Radical Psychology Network.

(Video 1 of 2)

Anarchists traditionally want both autonomy (individuality, independence, personal liberation) and community (cooperation, connection, mutual aid). Underlying their political and philosophical critiques of capitalism and the state are psychological assumptions about power, hierarchy, and similar dynamics. In this discussion we will explore anarchist thinking about human nature and the nature of society, focusing especially on the development and purpose of law.

Wobblies and Zapatistas: Conversations on Anarchism, Marxism and Radical History (PM Press)

Wobblies and Zapatistas: Conversations on Anarchism, Marxism and Radical History (PM Press)
Product Description

Wobblies and Zapatistas offers the reader an encounter between two generations and two traditions. Andrej Grubacic is an anarchist from the Balkans. Staughton Lynd is a lifelong pacifist, influenced by Marxism. They meet in dialogue in an effort to bring together the anarchist and Marxist traditions, to discuss the writing of history by those who make it, and to remind us of the idea that “my country is the world.” Encompassing a Left libertarian perspective and an emphatically activist standpoint, these conversations are meant to be read in the clubs and affinity groups of the new Movement.

The authors accompany us on a journey through modern revolutions, direct actions, anti-globalist counter summits, Freedom Schools, Zapatista cooperatives, Haymarket and Petrograd, Hanoi and Belgrade,  “intentional” communities, wildcat strikes, early Protestant communities, Native American democratic practices, the Workers’ Solidarity Club of Youngstown, occupied factories, self-organized councils and soviets, the lives of forgotten revolutionaries, Quaker meetings, antiwar movements, and prison rebellions. Neglected and forgotten moments of interracial self-activity are brought to light. The book invites the attention of readers who believe that a better world, on the other side of capitalism and state bureaucracy, may indeed be possible.
