Topic: Christian Democracy

Atheists: Do you really think christians want to replace democracy with a theocracy?

I’ve never heard of a christian saying that. You just use that line as an excuse to hate christians. If you really believe it then you are paranoid beyond the point of insanity. Stop blaming religion for everything wrong in your miserable lives.

You need to clean out your ears then. How can you miss 90 million American fundies that REPEATEDLY say how they want the world to conform to Christianity? You are a very simple minded person if you can’t see the problems that fundamentalists are causing in the world.

Edit: It’s sounds like you are the one full of hate. I don’t hate anyone, not even fundies. I know they are extremely delusional and dangerous if they get their way, but I also realize that they can’t help it because they were brainwashed by delusional parents. That doesn’t mean I’m going to sit by and let them take us all back to the Dark Ages. You really need to watch "Jesus Camp" and "Waiting for Armageddon" and then maybe you will get a clue what it’s really like.

Edit: Also, their are just as many rational Christians that won’t put up with the fundies plan to take over the world. How can you be so ignorant?

are the christians supporting the invansion to Libya? because American christians want the democracy?

if they want the democracy why do american presidents are always supporting the christianity? it doesn’t sound like Iran?

@choko – Speak for yourself, you ignorant simpleton.

I’m against the war in Libya. Sure, they want democracy and want the help, but we have more important things to spend our tax dollars on. I am frankly sickened and disgusted that our government has no problem wasting tax dollars on a foreign military invasion that doesn’t actually affect us in any way, shape, or form, but meanwhile exports all its business overseas and lets private banks control our money and repeatedly f*ck up our economy so we’re in debt up to our eyeballs and CAN’T AFFORD another military action. It’s okay, though, they’ll just pull it out of my generation’s social security.

No, I do not support it. Take care of your home and those you are responsible for first. Sorry, Libya, find an ally that actually takes care of their own and can afford your war. Obama, you disgust me.

Also, if anybody thinks this has anything to do with tender feelings for Libyan rebels who want democracy, think again. This is about oil and nothing else. If we help out the new regime may be "friendly" toward us and more pliable than Gaddafi. And if anybody is under the delusion that Gaddafi will walk out of this one in one peace because "we just want peace and him to agree to our ridiculous, intrusive, nosy terms to protect our oil investments" think again. Saddam refused to trade oil with some of the big wig countries and died for it, not because he was a brutal, crazy dictator, but because he wouldn’t play politics the way the wealthy fat cats wanted him to. I’ll be very surprised of Gaddafi doesn’t meet the same end under some cheesy guise of "foreign aid for democracy".

If this was a genuine desire to help Libya, I would naturally feel differently. But make no mistake, this is about oil, those people fighting for freedom are just a convenient excuse to go after it.

If Christians believe that the constitution of every modern Democracy was based on Christian ethics then……?

if that is true how come the ethics and rights in every country are all so different?

Another Christian claim without any basis to it?

The answer to your question is that the whole world isn’t Christian. The world is only about 35% Christian.

Why do Christians believe in democracy when Jesus only believed in establishing his autocratic kingdom?

How do Christians think that a kingdom actually functions?

Just for the record, kingdoms of any description are not democracies.

Many don’t; they would like to establish a theocracy.

Christians, has democracy and republics helped your nation become more godly, or less godly?

Republics — politicians like Pilate that care more about public opinion and keeping their job than doing the right thing.

Democracy — easily deceived voters are propagandized by the powers-that-be to crucify your Lord. Matt 27:20

How are these 2 systems working for you? Better or worse than they worked for Christ?

You might like to try reading Augustine’s ‘City of God’.

Reducing issues like this to simple less / more answers is either being mischievous, or naive.

If this is a "Christian country" then why is this country a democracy?

And not a theocracy?

First off, Christianity is unconstitutional. Look at their doctrines and their history. The only reason they are behaving right now, is because they happen to be fat and happy.
.

Christians, would you prefer to live in a secular democracy with secular law, or a Christian theocracy with?

Christian law?

Secular democracy, by a mile.

But even that’s not perfect. Do you see who they let into voting booths these days? Idiots like me, for example. Makes you tremble, doesn’t it?

Anti-Bush. Anti-Christian. Anti-Democracy, Anti-Capitalism. End the wars. Bin Laden sounds a lot like….?

Anti-Jew, Anti-individual rights, Anti-limited government. The similarities are endless.

Liberals, Progressives, Communists, Pelosi, Obama, Reid, and numerous other degenerates.

Is there such a thing in politics as a Buddhist conservative like Christian and Islamic conservatives?

Christian Democracy, Islamic democracy….Buddhist democracy?

Yes, try Nepal.

Does the Existence of the "C Street" Christian Project in Washington DC threaten US democracy?

That’s the conclusion of reporter Jeff Sharlet, author of "The Family" and "C Street," two books on a highly conservative branch of evangelical Christians with elite political connections and great wealth, many of whom operate out of the "C Street" house on Capitol Hill in Washington.

Have you read Sharlet’s two books on C Street and the elite conservative ministry "the Family" that’s behind it?

If so, what do you think of them?

They have the same goal as ALL christians. They want a theocracy like Iran.
