Topic: Christian Democracy

which of the Christian teachings supports the central idea of democracy?

I can’t think of any specifically except for when Jesus said, "Give unto Cesar what is Cesar’s." That and the people back then liked the idea of free speech and being free to travel. For the most part I think it is safe to say they tried to lead by example.

Christians who claim that western secular democracy is from Judeo-Christian values give scriptural evidence?

Freedom of religion, freedom of speech, women’s rights, freedom of press. Give evendence from the old and new Testament. Because I keep hearing Western Christians critisising Islam and that they don’t have out Judeochristian values when those values are similar to Islam like killing apostates from Judaism who worship idols and stoning for various sins and death penalty for blasphemy. The founding fathers of US where Deist and got their values from their head so they are deistic values not Judeochristian values.

"democracy"

Well, I do believe Solon and Pericles were Greek secular pagans, long before Christianity was invented…

Has globalisation undermined social and christian democracies..discuss?

Do you think the the effect of Globalisation have unndermined the influence of social and christian ideologies in the state?

yes. there is an obvious bias towards christians in american government, schools, media.
our social heritage is being diluted with immigrants that have no desire to assimilate. instead you cant work the service industry in the south west without being bi lingual. and you cant survive in dear born michigan without being muslim. russia controls brighton beach. cubans own miami. houston is 51% mexican. the violence and disregard for american law in these subcultures have changed americas policies, social solidarity, and citizen safety.
the economic aspects of globalisation are being felt by most americans now.
america has enough resources for all americans to live comfortably. american government has stopped protecting american business with dropped tariffs and adopting standards set by the u.n. and wto.
leveling the playing field on a global scale will reduce america to 3rd world status.

Did bush go into Iraq for Weapons of mass destruction or for Christian/Jewish God’s democracy?

The US had no reason to invade Iraq in 2003, and only did so because of “a series of lies” told to the American people by the Bush administration, says Gen. Hugh Shelton, who served for four years as the US’s top military officer.

Shelton, who was the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff from 1997 to 2001, makes the comment in Without Hesitation: The Odyssey of an American Warrior, a soon-to-be-published memoir reviewed at Foreign Policy by Thomas E. Ricks.

“President Bush and his team got us enmeshed in Iraq based on extraordinarily poor intelligence and a series of lies purporting that we had to protect Americans from Saddam’s evil empire because it posed such a threat to our national security,” Shelton writes in his memoir.

In the publicity sheet that St. Martin’s Press has been sending out to spur interest in General Hugh Shelton’s new memoir, Without Hesitation: The Odyssey of an American Warrior, the last highlight is a doozy: “A high-ranking cabinet member suggests intentionally flying an American airplane on a low pass over Baghdad so as to guarantee it will be shot down, thus creating a natural excuse to reltaliate and go to war.”

Know what’s important: Having a Healthy Food Supply like eFoodsDirect is Essential (AD)

Turns out the incident took place during the Clinton administration, and Shelton’s response to the suggestion…well, let’s just say it more than lives up to the title of the memoir.

At one of my very first breakfasts, while Berger and Cohen were engaged in a sidebar discussion down at one end of the table and Tenet and Richardson were preoccupied in another, one of the Cabinet members present leaned over to me and said, “Hugh, I know I shouldn’t even be asking you this, but what we really need in order to go in and take out Saddam is a precipitous event — something that would make us look good in the eyes of the world. Could you have one of our U-2s fly low enough — and slow enough — so as to guarantee that Saddam could shoot it down?”

The hair on the back of my neck bristled, my teeth clenched, and my fists tightened. I was so mad I was about to explode. I looked across the table, thinking about the pilot in the U-2 and responded, “Of course we can …” which prompted a big smile on the official’s face.

“You can?” was the excited reply.

“Why, of course we can,” I countered. “Just as soon as we get your ass qualified to fly it, I will have it flown just as low and slow as you want to go.”

Are we forcing the ISLAM Nations to be Christian brcause Democracy is not an Islamic Value?

Why are we forcing these people to embrace Christian Values!!!

America thinks they know best!!!

why do you lie? you don’t believe the USA should be a Democracy, it should be a Christian Democracy?

people get so angry that Muslims build a mosque in new york city
saying it’s near the place where the twin towers stood, crap
any where in the USA would be to close to where the twin towers stood

why not admit that you believe in equality only when it comes to Christians, preferably a protestant and evangelic Christians.
OK then Jews traditionally live in their ghettos … your used to that… and you are already used to niggers. they are protestants most of them. and atheists are just Christians in denial

but to have those brown skinned send-niggers building a place of worship on Christian soil, it’s unthinkable
why be a hypocrite… say a America is for Christians only.. say you want to put all gays and atheists is reeducation camps, kill all the infidels at home and go on a killing rampage in the middle east.. like in the good old days

and no, i am not a Muslim at all

I don’t
And I don’t oppose the mosque
so why do people on here insist in painting all Christians with the same brush

Can homosexuals bypass religious conscience on gay marriage in a democracy?

If a Christian believes homosexuality to immoral, and asked within the voting booth or without to condone it must they be true to their beliefs? In a democracy is there a paradox to giving to God what is God’s and to Caesar what is Caesar’s?

It should never be a question in the voting booth. The rights of blacks in the South used to be decided by vote, until it was realized just how wrong that was.

Do you think Christians are a threat to American Democracy?

If you do think this way, what specifically is the threat? If you don’t think Christians are a threat to American Democracy, please state your reason why you think Christians should be involved in politics.

Its not Christians in general that are the threat…. It’s insane right-wing ultra-conservative Christians who are the threat. Imagine a Theocracy where homosexuals are rounded up and imprisoned in ‘re-education’ camps…. schools (all schools) are only allowed to teach the Bible…. Atheists are burned at the stake for heresy, stuff like that. And if you think than none of that stuff could ever happen in this country, don’t kid yourself…. In 1925 most Germans had never even heard of Adolf Hitler, and the ones who had mostly thought he was a punk kid with delusions of Nazi glory, and look what happened with that. We must all stay vigilant and watch for unreasonable changes in our government and its policies or we could end up with another Bush! Ignorance is our worst enemy and their greatest ally.

Is it true that Evangelical Christians hate our democracy and want to turn America into a theocracy?

Yes it is. They are becoming more and more misanthropic and anti-democratic and the general population becomes more and more secularized. I know this from experience talking to evangelical friends from law school.
