Topic: Corporatocracy

I read in Wikipedia that a corporatocracy is when corporations control the government by large campaign ?

contributions and lobbyists. It is perfectly legal. Do you think America is ruled by a corporatocracy?

Yes, more formally known as a plutocracy: rule by the rich.

The plutocratic Founders created the US system as a plutocracy to perpetuate the dominance of their class.

This is why they concocted the monstrosity of the Electoral College.

Who else besides me agrees with Ayn Rand that a Corporatocracy is the only truly moral society?

Corporatocracy, in social theories that focus on conflicts and opposing interests within society, denotes a system of government that serves the interest of, and may be run by, corporations and involves ties between government and business. Where corporations, conglomerates, and/or government entities with private components, control the direction and governance of a country, including carrying out economic planning notwithstanding the ‘free market’ label.

in my opinion it is the wealthy in this country that take all the risks and have all the money to invest, their level of success is proof that their leadership is what is needed in this country and the government needs to get out of the way completely, zero regulations, only free-market cannibalism, the deserving will survive and the rest of the parasites will be eaten!! Remember its the rich that gives you jobs and you need to learn to respect that, China is thriving because their workers know their place in the machine!
its not hate speech, I love Ayn Rand! "Anthem" and "Atlas Shrugged" are the two books i live by!!
I drink your MILKSHAKE! I drink it up!!!

Atlas Shrugged was a brilliant book, however it was a novel. I am much more of an Adam Smith adherent than Ayn Rand.

Can you offer any reasonable evidence that the United States is NOT turning into a Corporatocracy?

Wiki on "corporatocracy"

CAustin IV:
LOL – Right you are. I included the wiki link to cover myself.
There’s one! "Corporations do not even have the vote." Thanks Shovel Ready
Would you agree that they’ve gained a commanding presence in our electoral process since the Court ruled in their favor?

this has already happened, when 1. corporations were granted the same rights as human beings and 2. when donated money was considered ‘free speech’

so now watch the corporate lobbyists pull the strings and the politicians marionette across the stage!

what year do you predict the Corporatocracy will fully conquer the world?

As in no jobs for anyone and all the £8 trillion ($13 trillion) worth of gold in the world will be stored in the bank of america. will it be this recession or the next?

What exactly do you think you will sell to people who have no jobs? And what are you planning to do with that gold? Make billions of rings?

Did you see the "Chernobyl" event on video today?

Those crazy anti nuke greens- the ones who tried to stop these Chernobyl’s from being built in the 80’s- are they still wrong today?
This is just another honest mistake by your corporatocracy, right?

smells like you never knew- Three Mile Island didn’t explode.

go to school, fool

When exactly did the corporatocracy overtake the American democracy?

informed answers would be appreciated.

The vote in Wisconsin will be seen as its official takeover date.
The next election and the recall of Walker will be the date we take it back.

Is the republican party trying to turn government into a corporatocracy ?

why or why not?

It’s been done, dude.

Is the Corporatocracy systematically destroying the American middle class?

In 40 Years the Corporatocracy (banks, corporations, our government) has shifted Americans from a sustainable middle class to a perpetual cycle of debt Serfdom.

Over the last 40 years we have seen much of the true wealth shift to Wall Street and the banks, which has largely eroded the value of our dollar and what it means to be middle class. This is why both parents must work today to break into the elusive middle class, our dollar is worthless.

The new system is designed for the few and by the few. The supposed new financial regulation being touted as the most sweeping since the Great Depression is woefully weak. Yet this is merely a reflection of the power of the corporatocracy. We really have the best government money can buy. Do you want to live in a world govt of the corporations, by the corporations and for the corporations? That is exactly where we are headed.

Who is your allegiance too? A politician or political party or to the Bill of Rights and the Constitution? Choose.

Wake up America, our Founding Fathers warned us of this, we are being hijacked and destroyed from within. No terrorists or standing armies will be our demise, but indeed it is the Corporatocracy doing it through stealth.

“Let me issue and control a nation’s money and I care not who writes its laws.”

—Mayer Amschel Bauer Rothschild, founder of the private International Banking House of Rothschild.

Yes, but you’ve already answered the question.

“It is well that the people of the nation do not understand our banking and monetary system, for if they did, I believe there would be a revolution before tomorrow morning.” ~ Henry Ford

Do you think the founders envisioned the corporatocracy that we have today?

Ki_Ki – sorry but sometimes people use big words here. Back to your comic books now…

They couldn’t have, I don’t believe. But they would surely be stunned by it.

Is this Corporatocracy making us loonie, or is it just me?

Here’s an example from SEARS.
Am I to be above having feelings about this?
I know it’s banal, but it affects my life.

I bought a washer and dryer. They took my money without having the product.
Then they changed the delivery date FIVE times.
Then they came to install it TWO MONTHS LATER, and didn’t bring the equipment I PAID for in order for them to install it. The washer and dryer sit there, UNINSTALLED.

What would you do?
What are your experiences with consumerism, and how do you deal with the way corporations treat customers, that is, with complete disdain and lack of ethics?

I’d send a polite, non threatening letter to the CEO telling him what’s going on and asking for an answer. You might want to mention that this type of service has a tendency to decrease stockholder value with all the consequences that go with it. Address the letter to the presidents office if you don’t have the persons name, however you can get that info on their web site. These people don’t like to be bothered with these problems, and most likely you’ll get an answer from someone.
Bad publicity usually gets them moving.
