Topic: Green anarchism

Some questions about socialist worker?

Are Socialist Worker the only major left-wing group around, considering The Green Party are all moderates? If not, what is the competition?
Are socialist worker right about anarchism? Are they authoritarian-style or democratic-style? Some people say they are a joke and some people say they are a good party, which is the truer picture?
What hope is there for a group with such a small membership? Should people like me be joining their group? What picture would you paint of the party generally?
I don’t think highly of them, I think they are very posh, but I have an even lower opinion of people who knock their group.
My point is I’m interested in Socialist Worker and would like to know fellow peoples opinions about the group. I mean intelligent people.

They’re just a bunch of mindless left wing thugs who’s sole purpose is to cause trouble and prevent anyone else from having freedom of speech . The claim to be revolutionaries bt are in fact just a tool of the establishment used as a terrorist threat to counter the real radicals .

Don’t join them unless you want to become a brain washed mindless sheep .

Poll: Do we need a moderate first-party in the United States?

When I say first-party, I mean like something that rivals the Democrats and Republicans. It seems like all the popular third-parties are hardcore in their ideology, Libertarians lean towards Anarchism, Green is far-left Libertarians, Constitution is far-right conservatives. We don’t have any really strong parties that are considered moderate. You have Rockefeller, Moderate, and RINO Republicans and a few DINOs Democrats, and both Republican and Democrats are centre-right and centre-left, but there is no real "moderate party".

What’s up with that?

US needs more political parties,
voters need to support the independent candidates more,
voting for a third party is NOT throwing away your vote, you are sending a strong message

What style would you label this (Warning: English is not my native language, it’s my third)?

I got into an argument whether I look like a punk or not with a friend. I say I look nothing like one, and most of the so called "anarcho-" punks know nothing of anarchism and think it’s about chaos. I’ll spare you my rant about that. What style would you consider my fashion to be? (By the way, I do real life organizing beyond wearing clothing that declares my politics. The point of my political clothing is to get into conversations with curious people who ask about it. Also, I don’t want to get into an argument about anarchism on yahoo answers)
Inventory of my clothing:
Tops: white t-shirt with a fist with "Green Power" on it; white t-shirt with "Grow food not lawns" on it; long sleeve black shirt with a feminist fist on it; plain black tank top; rainbow cardigan; red baggy hoodie with a feminist fist on it; black Chumbawamba t-shirt; blue long sleeve with a picture of Emma Goldman (early anarchist feminist organizer) printed on it; and a green 3/4 length sleeve shirt with "Capitalism is a cancer. Revolution is the cure" on it.
Pants: black slouchy men’s skinny jeans and dark blue slouchy men’s skinny jeans
Accessories: black and white keffiyeh, croquet rainbow beanie, rainbow armwarmers, rainbow knit gloves, anarchy symbol fingerless gloves and a beaded hemp belt
Shoes: black, vegan, hemp and recycled tire hiking boots.
Jewelry: rainbow "PRIDE" beaded necklace and smiley face earring studs.

Tree-hugging hippie.

Please pick only one.
Okay, pick more than one

Just one does not work for me.

My combination would be:

Conservatism, Libertarianism, a version of Progressism and some Nationalism?

I do not believe in "Man Made" Global Warming

P.S.

If you are going to put Masculism I would guess you should add Feminism just to be fair? (or are you a sexist? grins…)

How did a radical Communist become 0bama’s "Green Jobs" czar?

0bama has a "green jobs’ czar that 15 years ago became an avowed radical communist.

The administration’s “Green Jobs” czar, Van Jones, has a “very checkered past” deep-rooted in radical politics, including black nationalism, anarchism, and communism. The broadcast network newscasts have mostly failed to report on Mr. Jones’s past political affiliations which are lock-step with the network’s downplay of coverage regarding President Obama’s associations with the former radical and terrorist William Ayers during the election.

Is THIS the "Change We Can Believe In"? Saul Alinsky and BIll Ayers would be proud.

Interestingly, the article where Jones admits he became a communist while in jail is… <<gasp!!>>… missing from the East Bay Express!!!

Look at the associations that Obama has. Does this REALLY surprise you?

Oh… but who he befriends doesn’t matter. His past… doesn’t matter. His church… doesn’t matter.

Nothing matters. In fact. I bet you are making this up.

Look at ALL of the people that Obama has appointed and look at where they came from.

People thought Bush was bad? Hell, Bush has NOTHING on this guy!

How much does the average punk rocker know or care about the history of anarchism and anarchist movements?

There seems to be so much focus on liking the right bands and not selling out musically, rather than on having a solid understanding of the political ideas that the punk movement claims to advocate.

So…. What if a person is a brilliantly well-informed anarchist and can out-argue anyone in a political debate, but happens to like the musical sound of, say, Green Day or Good Charlotte?

Punk is merely a fashion in the United States.

Over in Britain, they’ve got some really low-level political ideas that make our societal issues seem like an ice cream social in comparison. For example, it is spelled out by law how doctors must dress.

I listened to the progressive punks, I’ve listened to the "School of Punk Rock Rediculosi". The haters (white trash race baiters, misogynists, blaxsploiters) are out there too, but they never made a dime off me.

I also enjoy Gilbert and Sullivan operetta, Bach, Beethoven, Kraftwerk, Adrian Belew, the sound track from the game Tribes 2, and "The Fiends" album "We’ve Come For Your Beer".

Every band and artist has a reason which makes them likable. Some people like hillbilly out of tune crooning specifically because they
don’t sound overproduced even though every f@rt by the artist is clear channeled.

There’s some amazingly good artists out there. I happen to like talented guitarists. By going and seeing truly talented punk rock bands in small venues, I’ve learned exactly what to listen for in a good band. When I hear a rhythm guitarist spin down a double scale arpeggio, I know what that looks like. When a poser plugs in their bought-on-credit MIDI guitar and barely hammers out cover songs with an obviously wrong meter, I guess I know that too. There’s some amazingly stupid artists out there.

(It’s my theory that Guitars are evil. However, it is such an evil that guitars shouldn’t be merely destroyed, but beaten into splinters slowly and deliberately over a long period of time while plugged into amplifiers.)

Be knowledgeable in everything you do. When you see hypocrisy, walk away. It’s not worth your time or money. You see a talent that you enjoy coming from artists who aren’t going out of their way to shove a message down your throat. Sometimes that’s what music is all about.
