Topic: Libertarian socialism

Can you explain Libertarian Socialism to me?

No retardedd answers.

No for gosh sakes keep things simple let Americans learn to be Fiscal conservative Libertarians that believe in individual freedoms and stop pushing a totally different agenda which is NOT similar to any actual movement in this country that has any clout and is libertarian at the moment.

what do you think of libertarian socialism?

which is defined as socialism with a strong focus on individual freedom, mainly collectivism created by workers without the state.

I think it is a good idea, and will work on a small scale.

So long as society is libertarian, both Capitalism and socialism can coexist. Capitalism on a large scale, nation wide, and libertarian socialism throughout collectives that choose it.

Being libertarian socialism, there is collective ownership, no coercion so people have the individual choice to live under socialism or capitalism. The Israeli Kibbutz is a fine example of the successes of libertarian socialism, but it would never work on a large scale.
But apart from that, mainstream socialism (high taxes, controlled industry like in Nazi Germany and USSR) is government robbery and immoral.

EDIT:
@Toonistcar90:
There are over 300 definitions of socialism. Some call for abolition of the state, some call for state control of the means of production. Libertarian socialism does not necessarily have to be on a large scale.

Poll: Would you rather have Libertarian Socialism or Authoritative Capitalism?

@GOZ2FAST Capitalism doesn’t require freedom or democracy at all. China is more or less capitalist and they dont have either of those things.

Libertarian Socialism, the best kind of Socialism.

Capitalism or Libertarian Socialism?

Which do you think is better? Also, if you say Libertarian Socialism doesn’t exist, then it just shows how perverted the meaning of Libertarian has become.

Only in the US is a libertarian economically right… Everywhere else, a libertarian is economically left…

Capitalism.

Can Libertarian Socialism work?

What is the most likely anarchist school of thought that can more likely work???

I think they draw the line at the police department and a tiny military.

Such a small government will never happen though, not with congress shooting it down anyways.

And equalist, he is asking how small the libertarians want to make the government, and how small it can get while still functioning.

Is being a "Christian Atheist" and a "Libertarian Socialist" contradictory?

I am both of those!

yes & see language…TIRH

Do libertarian socialists and libertarian capitalists have anything to learn from each other?

(Libertarian socialism refers to classical anarchism and other stateless socialisms.)

Yes, both can benefit each other by sharing ideas and not dismissing one another just because they are a bit different. I prefer libertarian socialism but I still like some things in anarcho-capitalism that I think would make anarcho-syndicalism better (vice-versa)…Its pretty detrimental to positive change when people only have the either/or aspect on things…

What would be a Libertarian Socialist’s views on taxation? Public services?

If you don’t know what Libertarian Socialism is or don’t think it can exist, then don’t answer. I’m looking for serious answers here.

Actually it is not a "contradiction" of terms. There is a left-right divide in libertarian theory based on how resources are divided, please educate yourselves. According to the Stanford Encyclopedia of Philosophy, right libertarians hold that the resources "may be appropriated by the first person who discovers them, mixes labor with them, or merely claims them—without the consent of others, and with little or no payment to them." Left-libertarians hold "that unappropriated natural resources belong to everyone in some egalitarian manner."

In response to your question.

Since the state would own large scale enterprises, that might be sufficient for generating revenue for the operation of governement without having to directly tax individuals.

Is US politics more about authoritarian and libertarian and not left and right?

http://www.educationforum.co.uk/sociology_2/Political_chart.jpg

authoritarian left is socialism
libertarian left is anarchy
authoritarian right is state controlled capitalism
libertarian right is free market capitalism

Progressives are authoritarian right
Conservatives are center right
Libertarians are libertarian right

Libertarian and authoritarian left are almost non existent in US politics.

This is the battle we face today (and always but people fail to see the big picture). Thats a European chart so its a bit off for American standards. All collectivism/statism is extreme left and no government on extreme right. State planned economies with ‘private property’ is property rights in name therefore is just a variant of socialism.

"The socialist movement takes great pains to circulate frequently new labels for its ideally constructed state. Each worn-out label is replaced by another which raises hopes of an ultimate solution of the insoluble basic problem of Socialism—until it becomes obvious that nothing has been changed but the name. The most recent slogan is "State Capitalism."[Fascism] It is not commonly realized that this covers nothing more than what used to be called Planned Economy and State Socialism, and that State Capitalism, Planned Economy, and State Socialism diverge only in non-essentials from the "classic" ideal of egalitarian Socialism.” – Ludwig von Mises

Another way to say the true Left/Right paradigm in America:

Collectivism vs Individualism
Tyranny vs Liberty
Slavery vs Freedom

Do your own homework. And by researching this yourself you will become more informed and critical thinker. This will keep you from the lobotomizing move to the left.
