Why does America not have a democracy?

My textbook describes three different types of democracy–majoritarianism, elite theory, and pluralism.

Which one is the closest that describes America?

Because in a true Democracy, the people can participate directly on important issues. The elite would never go for that. I guess the answer to the second part of your question would be elite theory.

Majoritarianism – Pros & Cons?

Why or why not?

No.
The will of the majority is very easily won over by promises and quick talk. The majority of the people are not capable of making a logical decision.

Liberals,Do you want to keep our Constitutional Republic or replace it with democracy or socialism?

John Adams defined a constitutional republic as "a government of laws, and not of men."[1] Constitutional republics are a deliberate attempt to diminish the perceived threat of majoritarianism, thereby protecting dissenting individuals and minority groups from the "tyranny of the majority" by placing checks on the power of the majority of the population.[2] The power of the majority of the people is checked by limiting that power to electing representatives who are required to legislate with limits of overarching constitutional law which a simple majority cannot modify.
