What is the difference between Communism, Socialism & Social Democracy?
How well are most Social Democracies doing today?
What is a mixed economy? &
How many decades ago did America switch to a mixed economy from a purely capitalist system?
With all the current talk of socialism/communism it’s pretty important to have this terms well defined, know America’s economic history, it’s current economic state and how well social democracies fare. Since America, like many European countries before us, is slowly becoming a social democracy, like it or not.
The theory of communism advocates class war (class struggle) and leading to a society in which all property is publicly owned and each person works and is paid according to their abilities and needs. Social democracy combines the principles of socialism with the greater personal freedom of democracy, while socialism is based on everyone having an equal right to a share of a country’s wealth and that the government should own and control the main industries.
Sweden & Denmark are social democratic countries, and so far they are not a dystopia. Britain has become a social democratic country since Labour has been in office (12 years) but only to an extent because of opposition (conservative/lib dems/UKIP…. the other parties basically). A mixed economy is an economic system combining private and public.
Im not too sure about your last question because Im not American but it’s impossible to have pure capitalism, socialism, & communism anyway. It doesn’t work.
