Can homosexuals bypass religious conscience on gay marriage in a democracy?

If a Christian believes homosexuality to immoral, and asked within the voting booth or without to condone it must they be true to their beliefs? In a democracy is there a paradox to giving to God what is God’s and to Caesar what is Caesar’s?

It should never be a question in the voting booth. The rights of blacks in the South used to be decided by vote, until it was realized just how wrong that was.

Honestly in the U.S. the separation of church and state should take care of this quite nicely. The State should have governing power over marriage as it is a religious ceremony. Other than where it covers health and welfare of society i.e. incest or age. So in this REPRESENTATIVE democracy the government has no business telling a church whether or not they can marry a gay couple it should be at the churches discretion.

The problem is that in America marriage belongs to the real caesar and not to an imaginary god
    Proof ?
A couple cannot be legally married by any member of clergy unless that couple has a state issued marriage license in their possession.
So the Fundamental question then becomes what is the States good reason for denying an otherwise qualified gay couple a marriage license and the only answer is that there isn’t one

Yes, and what has happened to all those laws that mentioned race? They’re all off the books. If marriage was a civil right, all marriage laws would have to be rescinded. Just as government got out of the race business, it would have to get out of the marriage business.
