In a society based on collectivism, are all members equal?
I’m reading Anthem by Ayn Rand. Does the idea of equality apply to all members of a society based on collectivism?
No, all members aren’t equal.
The reason that all members aren’t equal is because a society based on collectivism has to have a leader in charge of punishing people who live for themselves. Humans tend to live for themselves. This does not mean that they are not kind to others, just that they like to go after their own dreams and pursue their own happiness.
This leader — who is necessary in societies based on collectivism (to punish people who go after their own dreams and pursue their own happiness) — is not equal to the others, but "above" them — and rules over them just as a king would rule over his kingdom.
