What is the best definition for communism?

And can communism be better than democracy in some aspects? For example, China is better developed than India in terms of economic returns. Is this always true?
In what cases can democracy prove better than a communist country? Also quote some instances. Is communism better at countries having a large population (maybe educated or highly illiterate) or does democracy stand better at this?

Communism is not necessarily totalitarian. In rare cases it may be democratic. However, socialism would more easily be democratic.

China has horrible human rights. They have to work double hard to keep the facade in place. Democracy is always better because it allows the human spirit to grow.

When the government provides everyone with an equal basis; nice idea, but never works.

I quote from George Orwell’s Animal Farm. "All animals are equal but some animals are more equal than others. " And that is communism in a nutshell.

communism is an economic theory, same as capitalism and socialism.

    communism in layman’s terms means:

the state owns and operates all industry, public facilities, land use, ETC.

the state in turn assigns jobs and labor for the people, and a set pay amount based on the job.

the state also is suppose to make sure the people are housed, and food is available at a cost they can afford.

problem with it is that people have no incentive to do their best at their jobs so you get shoddy workmanship, poor quality health care.

reason being, if I am going to make 200.00 a week weather I do a good job, or poor job, human nature will say, screw it, I am going to do the least amount I can.

communism is often mixed as a political view, however the two are separate. you can have a capitalist society, and still have no democracy. or a communist society with a democracy. (in theory)

communism is an economic system where the government controls production, wages, and prices.

China has been moving away from this model for decades now, so China is not truly communist.

North Korea and Cuba are the closest to true communismm, and even Cuba has some private ownership of industry.

It is NOT a poltical system. You could concievably have democratic communist state or a totalitarian communist state.

Communism can be, but not limited to, a political ideal that aspires to eliminate any form of class in society by regulation. That can mean money, benefits, property, and/or religion… etc. Also Chinese communism can’t take all the credit for the economy because the majority of import export through china goes through Hong Kong. Which china has technical control over but is given autonomy because of it’s successful economy, and by the way is the least government regulated country in the world and also has the most consistent growth rate. Here is a source that shows the least to most government regulated countries and coincidentally is also in relative order of highest to lowest average standard of living.
